Peck of Peppers

by Katharine Gotham

Katharine Gotham grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University and eventually landed in the twin cities to begin her career as a ceramic artist.

For over 20 years, Katharine worked as a ceramic artist creating her playful, one-of-a kind pots. Her work has been recognized in both regional and national exhibitions. Katharine’s work has also been in many publications, including two books on ceramics and The New York Times. In 2013, Katharine Gotham embarked upon a life-long dream of intensively studying painting and drawing. Since her identity was so closely tied to being a ceramicist, it was a humbling transition to make–to be a newbee student instead of the teacher.  After working with some wonderful mentors and putting in many long hours, Katharine discovered that she loved the challenges and experiences of being a painter and decided to proceed full steam ahead.

In 2017, Katharine debuted her first collection of paintings at Loring Park Art Festival in Minneapolis and was selected as a Featured Artist. Her paintings have also been selected for inclusion in the Edina Members Juried Show, Studio Pintura’s Floral Art Exhibition and in the 2018 Loring Park Art Festival.

Katharine lives in St. Paul, MN with her husband, two children, cat and Corgi.
