Steve Levin painting photographed by Mitch Rossow - Sketch Peonies and Bread - detail

I recently photographed this small, elegant painting that will be included in Studio Pintura’s Annual Floral Exhibition. Pintura held a solo show for Steven last year pairing his large paintings with their studies. Seeing them side by side made it clear how much structure and decision-making happens in those smaller works — you could follow the progression from study to final canvas.

🎨 Studio Pintura’s 2026 Floral Show

Studio Pintura’s Annual Floral Exhibition is one of the first major spring events in the Minneapolis art scene. The entry deadline is February 22, and there’s still time to have your work professionally photographed for submission.

I hope to see you at the opening on March 20.

Fine Art Classical Realist Painter, ARC Living Master™

Steven is a contemporary American artist trained in the traditional atelier methods similar to those of 19th century Paris. He is associated with the group of artists known as Classical Realists, who trace their artistic lineage back to the Boston School painters working at the turn of the century.

Levin’s work displays a thorough understanding of light and form, a deep reverence for beauty, and a profound respect for the art of the old masters.
