Victoria Helen: An Accidental Painter
Too Much? is by Victoria Helen, who calls herself an accidental painter. After years as a floral designer, she bought a few tiny canvases from a craft store and taught herself to paint. She started with octopuses and worked her way through owls, chickens, cats, pigs and pigeons. She describes the results as living cartoons: whimsical animal paintings with a touch of reality. She founded Feline Fantastica, the annual cat art show at the Northrup King Building, and sells originals, prints and hand-embellished prints at art fairs and on her website. During Art Attack, Nov 13–15, you’ll find her at Niche Gallery, studio #258 in the Northrup King Building, with three other artists.
Get Your Prints Ready for Art Attack
Victoria’s business shows what prints can do for an artist. One original becomes a run of prints at several price points, and those are often what visitors take home from a studio crawl. Art Attack is Nov 13–15, and the holiday buying season comes right after it. If you want prints on the table this year, now is the time to get your paintings photographed. I’ve put together a guide to help you start offering prints and increase your sales.
