Dyan Padgett — Paintings Photographed by Mitch Rossow
Dyan Padgett is a Minneapolis painter whose oils focus on botanicals, florals, and still lifes — garden subjects that reward the kind of close, patient observation her training at The Atelier instilled. Her color draws on the Boston School tradition, and it shows in how luminous her work reads even in quieter subjects.
Dyan Padgett – A Journey Rooted in Tradition
Dyan’s artistic path began at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts along with the DePauw Art Grant, Indiana Artist Award, and Peeler Art Award. A University of Texas Art Exchange and the Frank M. Howes Travel Grant for Byzantine Art study followed, capped by the Fritz Smith Memorial Art Award in 1994.
She later committed to the Atelier method, spending a year in part-time study and five years full-time at The Atelier in Minneapolis — where she built the academic draftsmanship and Boston School color influence that define her work today. Additional workshops with John Angel, Jeff Larson, Douglas Flynt, Katie Whipple, and Michael Klein continued that development.
Dyan Padgett – Exhibitions and Recognition
Dyan’s exhibition history spans murals in Minneapolis private residences and All Saints Lutheran Church in Minnetonka, annual group shows during her years at The Atelier, and a consistent presence in Minneapolis venues including Art-A-Whirl, Art Attack, and the River Tower Show.
Her work has appeared in MN Realists shows at the Hastings Art Center and Winona, the Studio Pintura Spring Floral Show, the Studio Pintura Small Works Show, and “The Power of Water” at the Edina Art Center.
She was selected for the American Women Artists National Juried Show, “Lifting the Sky,” where she received both the People’s Choice Award and the Master Framer’s Award.
Dyan brings in florals and botanicals regularly — the kind of work where color accuracy in the photograph actually matters. Schedule your own session →
